| Anyone heading to Vancouver this Friday or Saturday? |
[Jul. 23rd, 2008|09:08 pm] |
Is anyone heading to Vancouver this Saturday? I have two suitcases and three boxes and need to get to Vancouver on Friday or Saturday. If anyone is heading there or just to the ferry terminal on the Mainland already I will make it worth it.
I can pay for the ferry costs, ample gas money, and the ferry buffet.
I'm 32, female, normal (I swear!), and I'm trying to get across the water and to the Tswassen ferry terminal. School is over I need to get back to the Mainland ASAP. |

why can't we get lost in hands and legs and friends and hurricanes tied up in the back room with the rest of the grand dames
giving out tickets to the next gnarly showcase murder you should be flattered we even notice your drug runner
if monsters and predators caught you in the shadow alley i'd be sure to let them chew your whole body
for any time you want me it's not for disaster twisting in the wire choking on fresh plaster
when we check the pictures posted on the computer i'll be heroin chic and you'll be the refuser
tracing your name stitched on a pillow let's get out of control come let yourself go
creamy vanilla pudding and dark chocolate bars together in the night screaming in cars
oh my fucking god your fingers are all over like a drunk clown's career the day he gets sober
now if only you'd let me have my way with the bridle i'll play wicked and wild and let you be the child |

| dads |
[Jul. 23rd, 2008|01:33 pm] |
I already looked through the tags and none of the posts under "father" really did it for me. Coming up is my dad's birthday and I really want to make him a good mix. I've been away at school and my family has had a tough year. I need good songs that have to do with dads in a really positive light. He's my buddy, so I really want to make this special.
So far I have:
Alaska in Winter - A Love Note from Your Piano (he loves good atmospheric, pretty, basic songs so anything like that is a go for "filler")
Travis - My Eyes
Tokyo Police Club - Listen to the Math
And currently I'm deciding which song off of Pet Sounds will go on the CD.
Any other options that may have more of a "dad, hang in there, you're doing great" vibe?
Thanks in advance! |

get back on the train this ride takes us home over an uncovered bridge through shouts and moans we could have had fights dogma and dirty milk bars instead we have thirty-two beds on four sleeper cars preferred treatment on the bullseye line laying a new wood floor could save a lot of time high speed bullet coasters re-routed through downtown place us within seconds of never having to look around would you bother to linger longer with me or should i infiltrate alone this reconstructed property |

Is it possible to take 700$ out at once from a savings account? It's for rent, cash only unfortunately... I don't know if this changes a lot between accounts for different people, mind you. Would it just be easier to take out a bit at a time? |

| | thoughtful | ] | Figured it might very well behoove me to try posting this here - I'm finding myself a wee bit unsure otherwise, of quite where to start.... Basically, then, the upshot of the situation is that I'm looking to put together a very specific character costume - more on the details of that in a moment ;) - and I was wondering, and sincerely hoping too, that there might be someone out there with the experience, the skill and the interest....to help me out in this respect. I know there are regular seamstresses, everyday tailors 'n' such in town, but to be honest I'd wonder just how much experience they'd have with something like this....especially since this is not a widely-known costume, though of course it's absolutely the most memorable one I personally know of. :D
What I am planning to do, then - and certainly in time for forthcoming conventions next year, most notably SDCC and Dragon*Con, though NorWesCon could be a possibility too - is the full costume kit....hair, makeup, eyes, outfit....of a character from the fifth and final season of the TV show "Angel". If you're familiar with one of that season's big and most dramatic story arcs - Illyria, then, (Fred, after being taken over by the ancient demon-king god) blue-streaked of hair and vivid electric blue of eyes, and with this simply *gorgeous* leather or pleather pseudo-armour outfit to boot....mmmmmm, yes, this is precisely what I'm looking for. Now, the way I'm looking at it seems to be - that the hair is, relatively speaking, not so much the major concern right now....ditto the makeup, and even the eyes (for which I've already hopefully found a distributor anyway) - it's the costume itself, the leather/pleather look, which I'm focussing on most here, for the time being. Heck, a while back I purchased a black dance bodysuit for it, and I've been told that's a perfectly viable way to start. :)
So-o, then, all that being duly said, I guess what I'd be hoping for here is that....there might indeed be someone out there who's not only familiar with this character, this outfit....but who's also perchance sewingly-inclined in general (and maybe even towards costumery in particular, I don't know if that might help) - and who could then be of help for me here? *looks around in an appropriately pleading fashion, crosses fingers and toes accordingly* As for myself, I don't know how to sew all that much - though I *do* want to learn, honest!....it's just that all things considered, I'm probably better off relying on the talent and skill of someone rather more experienced....because the last thing I'd ever want to do is futz it up somehow. :)
Thanks so much in advance....oh, and also, I have this page for reference, it might be of use:

....and this one too, someone else's attempt at the kit....

I live in a house that's actually like a giant house with several (half a dozen) suites. If I want to hold a yard sale do I legally need to ask permission? I figure that the front lawn is a common area and that I can do pretty much whatever I want, but wondered if anyone here knew for sure. |

When I moved into my apartment, it needed a paint.. that was a year and a half ago. My landlord said if i needed any painting done just to let him know, but i'm tired of the white walls, and dusty pink bathroom.
Does anyone have feedback- am i within my rights to paint my apartment any colour I choose? Or am i stuck with white unless I paint over it when i vacate? |

| Minimum Credits? |
[Jul. 21st, 2008|11:05 pm] |
Is there any sort of minimum credit/courses required to be eligble for the U-Pass as part of your student card? For example, would I still get it if I took one course in the fall and two in the spring? It seems like I should since I (presumably?) will be paying the student fee that includes it, but just want to double check! Also, if I ended up dropping my fall course after having my student card reactivated (or whatever they do U-Pass would become invalidated as well? Anyone know? TIA |

[Jul. 21st, 2008|06:21 pm] |
I really need to get rid of my N. I remember hearing once that there's a way to go take the test without booking it - something about arriving very early in the day, and hoping for an opening? Does anyone know the details about this? I can't find anything on the ICBC website.
Or, does it still take a very long time to get a test booking? |

| Pemberton Festival |
[Jul. 21st, 2008|01:30 pm] |
My wife purchased a ticket to the Pemberton Festival this weekend, and the person she was going with bailed on her today. So now she's either looking for people to go with, or to sell the ticket.
For anyone looking to buy, she's selling it for $200-$225.
If anyone is looking for someone to go with, or has room for someone else; she has a car if need be, but doesn't mind not driving. She also has her own tent.
Thanks!
Edit: the ticket has been sold! |

| | Sam's Town by The Killers | ] | I know this is a random question, but I don't have quite enough information to google my way to the answer...
I watched part of a movie on one of the basic cable channels last night (I think it was 12 or 13?). It was set in the late 1960s/early 1970s. It was a pretty dark comedy about a bunch of executives and their wives, and seemed to be poking fun at gender roles of the time by exaggerating things that make modern audiences uncomfortable.
( more details )
Please help! It's driving me bananas not knowing... |
